MAE MACAU ARTISTS
Freda Weng Chu
In the fall of 2011, I became a student at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where I’ve been inspired to develop my own unique artistic style. As an artist and student, I worked hard to develop art that combines traditional Native American themes with contemporary objects that speak to all of us who love art.
I am originally from Chicago. Spent more than a decade in San Francisco. Its nice here. My media of choice include: sumi, gouache, brushes, and paper. Black & white and red all over.
Christopher Burch is an artist, events organizer, and educator based in San Francisco CA and St. Louis MO. He received the Painting Fellowship for his graduate studies at the San Francisco Art Institute (MFA 2008) and is a graduate of Columbia College with a BFA in 2002. The works of Christopher Burch report from the interstices of identity, mythology, and history.
Carmela’s art attempts to have viewers enter her own alternate environment that parallel personal experiences, imagination, and cultures. From those said attributes, stem an art style that is constantly developing. When conceptualizing her images, she finds that her characters represent certain personal aspects, which can sometimes serve as both self-portraits and simply portraits. While showcasing what best reflects her personality and non-spoken messages, this artist is on a journey of finding a balance between grit and softness.
